SABA Greater Boston is a local chapter of the North American South Asian Bar Association (NASABA), which is the umbrella organization for the local SABA groups throughout the
United States and Canada.
  • Serve as the regional voice for the concerns and opinions of South Asians in the community generally, and in the legal profession in particular
  • Provide a forum for professional networking and development, legal scholarship and education, and advocacy and community involvement
  • Promote the advancement of attorneys and law students of South Asian heritage
  • Support provision of legal services to the South Asian community
  • Work with other bar associations, governmental agencies and community groups to achieve greater involvement in and understanding of the American legal system by the South Asian community

  • Over the past several years, a group of Boston-area South Asian attorneys have worked together to organize the South Asian Bar Association (SABA) of Greater Boston. SABA Greater Boston is the local chapter of the North American South Asian Bar Association (NASABA)
  • On November 10, 2004, SABA officially announced itself through a launch event at Bingham McCutchen LLP in Boston. The event was well-attended by many diverse members of the local bar and featured keynote speakers at the event included Lieutenant Governor Kerry Healey and Dr. Gururaj "Desh" Deshpande, past Chairman of TiE, Inc., and founder and Chairman of Sycamore Networks, Inc
  • Over the past few years, with the support of many members of the South Asian legal community, SABA has organized successful social and networking events, mentoring programs, career panels, and substantive topical discussions. We have also participated in activities and meetings with the National South Asian Bar Association and have co-sponsored events with other local bar associations and South Asian community groups
  • We invite you to join the SABA. With the annual dues collected, we intend to further develop programs and activities of interest to our membership.
