The Advisory Board Members provide guidance to the SABA Board of Directors. Currently the following attorneys serve on the Advisory Board:

Membership Committee -- Chaired by Roy Issac and Sarika Maheshwari

The Membership Committee has the responsibility of attracting new members, reviewing bar admission lists twice a year for new members, composing and sending out membership materials annually and as necessary over the course of the year, collecting dues in coordination with the Treasurer, maintaining a database of membership information, maintaining a referral list, creating a membership directory on an annual basis to be distributed to all members, and sending all membership wide emails. In addition, the Membership Committee will be charged with promoting local member attendance for the NASABA convention. In addition, the Membership Committee will be responsible for reporting to the Board at each Board meeting regarding what was accomplished over the prior months and what is to be accomplished over the coming months.

South Asian Community Relations Committee -- Chaired by Anita Patel

The South Asian Community Relations Committee is responsible for identifying and developing relationships with South Asian community organizations, including identifying opportunities for community service and pro bono work. Along with the EC, the South Asian Community Relations Committee should attend as many community events as possible (and appropriate). In addition, the South Asian Community Relations Committee will be responsible for reporting to the Board at each Board meeting regarding what was accomplished over the prior months and what is to be accomplished over the coming months.

Legal Community Relations Committee -- Chaired by Rashi Mittal and Sonia Shah

The Legal Community Relations Committee will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with local bar organizations, including local minority bar organizations. Along with the EC, the Legal Community Relations Committee should attend as many legal community events as possible. In addition, the Legal Community Relations Committee will be responsible for reporting to the Board at each Board meeting regarding what was accomplished over the prior months and what is to be accomplished over the coming months.

Mentorship Committee -- Chaired by Shahzia Rahman and Mehreen Butt

The Mentorship Committee is responsible for identifying, on an annual basis, the SALSA presidents at all local law schools (BU, BC, Northeastern, Harvard, NESL, Suffolk, Western New England) and developing relationships with them; running the mentorship program during the school year including matching mentors and mentees; planning and executing the mentorship kickoff event each fall; and planning and executing one other event during the second semester of the school year for mentors and mentees. In addition, the Mentorship Committee will be responsible for identifying new South Asian law students each school year and providing contact information to the Membership Committee. The Mentorship Committee will also be charged with identifying South Asian summer associates/interns in the Boston area each summer. The Mentorship Committee will also be responsible for administering any law student or other fellowships and/or scholarships provided by SABA. In addition, the Mentorship Committee will be responsible for reporting to the Board at each Board meeting regarding what was accomplished over the prior months and what is to be accomplished over the coming months.

Fundraising / Convention Committee -- Chaired by Roy Issac and Natasha Varyani

The Fundraising/Convention Committee is responsible for preparing sponsorship materials (for individual events and for general sponsorship), establishing relationships with legal industry service providers and other corporate entities (Call to Action signatories) for sponsorship opportunities, obtaining at least one sponsor for each SABA event, and preparing marketing and promotional materials (including business cards, letterhead and informational brochures). In addition to fundraising responsibilities, the Fundraising and Special Events Committee will be responsible for working on the special events to be identified by the Board from time to time. The Fundraising and Special Events Committee will be responsible for reporting to the Board at each Board meeting regarding what was accomplished over the prior months and what is to be accomplished over the coming months.

Public Relations -- Chaired by Anjali Chitre and Anil Ranganath

The Public Relations Committee is responsible for publicizing (together with event organizers and the EC) every SABA event to the membership and community at large; drafting summaries of each event for circulation to the membership and to update the website; maintaining and developing relationships with various media sources such as India New England, Lokvani, India Abroad, Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, and other organizations with newsletters/publications etc.; drafting press releases and coordinating media presence at SABA GB activities and events. The PR Committee will also be responsible for referring media inquiries which come to them to the Executive Committee for appropriate response. In addition, the Public Relations Committee will be responsible for maintaining and updating the SABA GB website with SABA and other bar events, photos, press releases, news article links, and other relevant information. The PR Committee will also be responsible for sending out communications to all members at intervals decided by the Board. The PR Committee will also be responsible for identifying awards, honors, recognitions for which SABA GB may submit nominations of its members and other individuals if appropriate and managing the process to complete nominations or letters of support. In addition, the Public Relations Committee will be responsible for reporting to the Board at each Board meeting regarding what was accomplished over the prior months and what is to be accomplished over the coming months.
